A sailing tour dedicated to food & wine!

For years, we tried to explain to our sailing guests that a big part of sailing among Croatian islands is also the local gastronomy. Therefore, this tour combines the best of both. It captures the diversity of Croatian gastronomy with the best sailing experience in Dalmatia!

Not an ordinary gastro sailing tour!

Our plan is to take this tour to a whole new level. At first, it will give you a chance to try the best fresh seafood, lamb, olive oil and well known Croatian wines. But our gastro sailing tour goes even further! We will actually visit local farmers on their farms, the fisherman on the boat and winemakers in vineyards. Further on, we will also join them in the kitchen, where they will present us the local cooking techniques with all the necessary tips. Ladies, we promise you will be taking home some useful new tricks and amazing recipes! What is more, we will also not forget that it is summer time! Secluded bays and crystal clear water will be on our menu during the Gastro sailing tour all the time!

I love the gastro part of the tour, but am I fit enough for the whole tour?

Our sailing routes have daily scheduled activities, but it is up to each individual to decide on the level of participation. You can get really active with full interaction in sailing and other maritime skills, or swimming, hiking, snorkeling and SUPing (Stand up paddling). On the contrary, you can just relax and enjoy the beautiful views from the boat cockpit with a book in one hand and a cold drink in the other one. 😉

Day 1: Stomorska – island Šolta(11Nm)

After picking you up at your hotel or at the airport, we will sail to a nearby island of Šolta. Further on, we will visit a small town of Stomorska, where we will stay overnight. A short distance from Stomorska lies Kaštelanac, a charming, family-run farm with the vineyard and this is where we will start our unforgettable gastro week. The winery offers renowned rosé and red wine; both derived from the Dobričić grape. Kaštelanac also produces different high-quality olive oils, traditional Dalmatian liquors and a selection of homemade cheeses, marinated fish, patés and other local delicacies that we will have a chance to taste before dinner.

2

Day 2: Bol – island Brač (16Nm

From Šolta, we will sail to the island of Brač and visit the famous town of Bol. After a day at the seaside and all the summer fun, we will take a short transfer to a charming restaurant located in the olive orchard. Here, we will enjoy the olive oil tasting. You will have the opportunity to learn about the traditional olive oil production, new techniques and differences in the taste and quality.

After olives and olive oil, we will proceed to the stone gallery of one of the most respectable stone artists in the country. Stone sculptures, architectural elements, and other pieces are definitely going to amaze you with their beauty. The whole idea of craftsmanship and skill that is needed to create such art from solid stone is simply amazing.

After a visit to the gallery, we will take a short, enjoyable walk to the restaurant, which is famous for its local lamb meat and where we will taste lamb specialties that are in season at the moment.

Finally, we will proceed to the wine tasting in the award-winning winery, where we will taste three reds among which the star of Brač wines – Plavac mali.

3

Day 3: Stari Grad- island Hvar (22Nm)

On the third day, we will sail to Stari Grad on the island of Hvar. Agrotourism Pharos is where the unforgettable feast awaits us. In the middle of the UNESCO protected area, we will taste the award-winning wines, olive oils, and other Dalmatian delicacies. Rich, four-course menu includes: tasting 3 types of olive oil, cheese, prosciutto, salted and marinated fish, traditional peka meal (meat with potatoes and spices cooked for several hours in a covered iron pot set on coals), traditional Dalmatian dessert. Each course is paired with a different wine. Apart from enjoying different varieties of Dalmatian delicacies, our hosts will gladly show us around the estate: their old wine cellars, animals, planted fruit and vegetables and other herbs.

4

Day 4: Sv. Nedelja - Hvar (21 Nm)

From Stari Grad, we continue our sailing gastro tour to Sv. Nedelja further south on island Hvar, where we will visit one of Plenković cellars. The interesting fact about this cellar is that it is located below the sea level. In the basement of the winery, you will have a chance to see an aquarium with fish, many barriques, and wooden barrels, as well as archives of award-winning wines. Plenković winery is the most awarded winery in Croatia. It holds wines that received the gold medal at the Decanter in London, such as its variety called Pošip (2010), its Grand Cru wines that entered among the 10 best wines in the world, the award-winning varieties of plavac and zinfandel… and these are just one of the many quality wines we will be introduced to. We will taste light white to strong red wines along with the sampling of Dalmatian dinner.

5

Day 5: Vis – island Vis (19 Nm)

After Hvar, it will be time to sail south to the unique island of Vis. Like the whole area, Vis island is no exception when it comes to good food and wine. The cellars and restaurants have a wonderful aroma that cannot be found anywhere else.  Besides the sea’s special allure, the trend of the time is to go to the heart of the island to discover the authentic Vis cuisine.

Some will be enchanted by the fields of the green vineyards. Others will linger in the kitchens of the old stone houses, rustically appealing, to observe a local style of cooking, lovingly prepared since our ancestors’ time.  Sardines barbecued on the spit, fish prepared in traditional Dalmatian style brudet, succulent grilled lamb, salted fish pie made from tomatoes and sardines, and delicious, healthy salads made with fresh garden greens and seafood delights.

We will take you on a gastro-sightseeing tour of the island. A tour, where you can try all the culinary specialties that the island of Vis is famous for.

6

Day 6: Bobovišča – island Brač (21Nm)

After breakfast, we will slowly start sailing back north towards Split. However, we have one more stop before reaching this town. This time we will visit the producers of one of the finest wines on Dalmatian islands. Senjkovic winery is located in a small picturesque village in the heart of Brač. Surrounded by lush vineyards and lovely Dalmatian style ambiance, you will get a memorable experience worth saving for the last night. We will taste several of the high-quality wines perfectly matched with food, while also learning about wine production. Moreover, we will also walk through the vineyards and enjoy the breathtaking ambiance.

7

Day 7: Split

Friday is a relaxed day, reserved for swimming and other water activities. Later in the evening, we will start sailing to our home harbor in Split.

Day 8: Split

At 9:00, we have to leave the boat, so we will only have time for a nice farewell breakfast, where we can sum up all the impressions before we say the last goodbye.
