During this years’ ultimate winter ski week package we will take you around the Lake Tahoe. During this resort hopping Tahoe tour, you will get to ski in 4 different resorts: Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Sierra at Tahoe and Homewood or Heavenly. So, get ready for the best winter experience so far!
What is resort hopping holiday?
Resort hopping, as we call it, is a very popular type of holiday among our guests. It literally means that we don’t stay located in one place, but move around. Every day we get to explore a completely new area. Thus, it never gets boring! Also, we try to plan the holiday around the weather and snow forecast. This way we can take the best out of it!
Skiing around Lake Tahoe
The history of California skiing begins in 1960 when Squaw Valley hosted the entire Winter Olympics. And that is also where we will depart on our journey around Lake Tahoe.
The internationally renowned ski resort Squaw-Alpine is located in North Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada. In 2012, the famous Squaw Valley resort joined forces with the neighboring less known Alpine Meadows and represents today one of the largest ski areas in the United States, offering more than 6,000 skiable acres! Whatever your preferences, you will definitely find your peace around here!
In the middle of our trip, we will move down to South Lake Tahoe. There, we will explore Sierra at Tahoe resort. This resort offers multiple generations of athletes terrain and amenities to create a perfect ski vacation! However, the resort is ideal for families with 75% of its terrain for beginners and intermediates.
Moving on, we will drive more to the west side of the lake and visit Heavenly or Homewood. Homewood is the only ski area on the west shore of Tahoe and has absolutely the best views of the lake, that we will for sure not miss out!
Heavenly, on the other side, is objectively the biggest resort in all of Tahoe. The resort is split across the California side and the Nevada side, and has literally something for every taste.

Day 1 - Saturday: Flight NYC - Reno
Flight from NYC – Reno Tahoe airport. Our guide will be waiting for you with a shuttle ride prepared for an hour ride to the Squaw Valley Ski Resort. Check in the hotel in Squaw Valley.
Day 2 – Sunday: Squaw Valley
This very popular resort has more than 30 lifts across six unique mountain peaks. There is a great variety of trails from beginners to advanced, which allows the masses of skiers to evenly spread around. On top, Squaw – Alpine also boasts one of the region’s only mountain-top beginner areas and several intermediate skiers havens, including Shirley Lake and the newly renamed Pacific Crest Bowl. The payoff is extraordinary lake views, as well as the feeling that you are high in the mountains and away from the run-of-the-mill lower-mountain slopes that most resorts provide for newbies.
Day 3 - Monday: Alpine Meadows
Squaw neighbor and probably the most underrated ski resort around Tahoe. However, a number one choice among locals if you ask them. No crowds, relaxed atmosphere and variety of beginner to expert terrain are to be found in Alpine Meadows.
Day 4 - Tuesday: Sierra at Tahoe
The smallest resort in Tahoe, Sierra at Tahoe resort offers multiple generations of skiers/snowboarders terrain & amenities to create that perfect ski vacation. What is more, the resort employees ensure all beginner terrain is covered with ultra soft, full-cushioning organic snow and thus provide a perfect spot for family vacation.
Day 5 - Wednesday: Homewood or Heavenly
Homewood resort is renown as one of Tahoe’s classic family-friendly ski resorts and the only ski area on the west shore of Tahoe. Heavenly, on the other side, is the biggest resort around Tahoe with peak elevation over 10,000 feet and a skiable area of more than 5,000 acres.
Day 6-7 - Thursday: Squaw-Alpine
Coming back to where we started. You will see, another day of exploring the Squaw-Alpine area just won’t be enough! The convenient shuttle between the two resorts, however, makes it perfect to experience the best of both!
Day 8 - Saturday: Day off or skiing in Squaw-Alpine and flight home
Saturday is our last day and we leave it open to fill it up according to your preferences. You can either decide to have a day off and enjoy in a base village area complete with a full array of luxury hotels, chalets, restaurants, and shops. Or you can have a last day of skiing and then a deserved sleep during the night flight out from Reno.
