We might just have exactly what you are looking for – a high Atlas 5-day MTB tour through the Berber villages & valleys. Starting in the city of Marrakesh, also known by the French spelling Marakech, which is a major city of the Kingdom of Morocco and the fourth largest city in the country, after Casablanca, Fez, and Tangier. The city is located to the north of the foothills of the snow-capped Atlas mountains and thus represents the perfect starting point to discover the surrounding mountains, valleys, and villages by bike.

This tour is suitable for bikers, familiar with daily MTB rides of approximately 30 miles per day.

Day 1 – Home – Marrakesh (or Casablanca airport)

We will wait for you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel (riad) for the night in Marrakesh. We will all have a welcome drink with the guide and later on free time to relax and adapt to the time change.


Day 2 – Imlil – Tizi Mzik (8100ft) – Tamsoult Waterfalls (8200ft) – Azzaden valley – Imlil

Time to get ready for your MTB tour!

After the breakfast, we will have an early departure and head towards Tizi Mzik mountain pass by foot. Once we arrive there, we will prepare the bikes and start on the single track in a rocky trail, riding between Juniper trees. During our ride, we will have a chance to experience some amazing views over Tamsoult pastures & sheepfolds. When we arrive in Tamsoult, we will have lunch and we will also visit the waterfalls. Then, we continue biking down to the Azzaden valley. We will cross several Berber villages and sheepfolds on the way down to Id Aissa village. There we will stop for the traditional mint tea in a local house, and after continue riding to Tizi n Tacht (6500ft). There will be breaks for taking photos all along the way. Finally, we will bike down on a single track to Imi Oughlad village where you meet your driver who will transfer us back to Imlil – approximately 30 min drive.

Day 3 – Imlil – Tizi n’Tamatert (7500ft) – Imnane Valley (7800ft) – Asni – Imlil

After a warm breakfast, we will start biking on the asphalt road up through Tizi n’Tamatert pass (7500ft) and continue on the road track progressively towards the Imnan valley with the most famous Berber villages such as Ouanskra, Tamguist, Ikiss, Amsakrou. Then, we will get a picnic lunch near the river in Arg village under the walnut trees. After the lunch we will continue down on a road through Imsker village and later on join the Asni town and the Berber market (4200ft, every Saturday). From here, our private transport will pick us up and drive us back to Marrakesh.

Day 4 – Imlil – Tizi n’Tichka – Telouat – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Dades

After the early breakfast, we will drive from our riad in Imlil and head on to Tichka Pass (7400ft): the highest paved road in Morocco. The arid landscape from the top of Tichka is a must see. You will prepare your bikes and pedal in a basic paved road down to Telouet. To the east, we will cross a desert plateau and reach the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou. We will stop for lunch in a local restaurant and a short walk around the old Kasbahs. The transfer will take us to Dades Gorges. On the way there, we will cross several towns such as Ouarzazate and roses valley. We will spend a night and dinner in a Lodge (Auberge) in Dades valley.

Day 5 – Dades gorges – Roses Valley – Boutaghrar – Almdoun

After the breakfast, the transfer will take us to the Monkey Feet canyons (pates des singes) in Dades Valley. We will bike across an arid plateau and discover the nomadic life in the Atlas mountains. After a mint tea stop and a local bread snack, we will jump back on our bikes and keep discovering the Berber area. We will arrive in Boutaghrar for lunch and then rest for some time to stretch out our legs. We will continue our adventure, by following the Mgoun Valley, crossing more Berber villages, figs groves, and desert mountains. We will arrive in the town of Almdoun and check-in in a guesthouse for the night.

* Duration: 12,5 – 18,5 miles transfer, approximately 25 – 30 miles mountain bike (ascent 650ft & descent 2300ft)


Day 6 – Almdoun (5200ft) – Amejgag – Tizi n’Ait Ahmed (8500ft) – Tighermt n’Ait Ahmed (6900ft) – Ait Imi (9500ft)– Ait Bouguemez valley (5900ft)

An early morning start, to head towards Amjgag village, from where we will bike to the Mgoun valley crossing the Tizi n Ait Ahmed.  We will experience the amazing views over the Roses and Mgoun valleys. We will bike down to Mgoun valley, where we will stop for lunch. Later on, we will ride the bike or drive with the 4×4 to head towards Tizi n Ait Imi. From there, we will bike downhill on a single track or off-road towards Ait Bougmez valley.  We will spend the night in Ikhf n Ighir, a small Berber village in Ait Bougmez Valley.

Day 7 – Ait Bouguemez valley (5900ft) – Azilal – Ouzoud Waterfalls – Marrakech

Early transfer to Azilal town, by crossing several Berber villages. We will arrive at the Ouzoud Waterfalls, where we will have a short walk around and then have lunch in front of the waterfalls. We will also walk around to see the Barbary Apes monkeys. The transport will meet us at the top of the town and transfer us back to Marrakesh. The night will be spent at the riad. Free evening.

Day 8 – Marrakech - Home

Transfer to the airport.

Your adventure guides are local and experienced professionals who have a real passion for outdoor activities and for the culture and landscape.
Your safety is their number one priority, closely followed by your enjoyment of the tour. They will always be on-hand to answer any questions or requests you may have throughout your trip. We choose our guides for their expertise in outdoor activities. They are experts in their fields.
We only run small group adventures to ensure that everyone has the best experience possible and not get lost in the crowd. There will generally be between seven and 14 people in each group. The minimum number of people we require to run our tours is four.
Our tour caters for a wide age range, typically between 30 and 60 years old, but age is simply a state of mind, as they say, and we welcome anyone over the age of 18! 
Tours are designed at your own pace and you will enjoy no matter what your age.

Each evening your guides will chat with you about the following day’s activities and give you an idea of the sorts of trails you can look forward to. If there’s anything you feel anxious about, your guides will be happy to discuss it with you.
We recommend following a general training in the weeks leading up to your trip.
Your guide will be very happy to give you some bike skills training during your trip to help improve your confidence and your enjoyment of your bike adventure. 

As fellow sports enthusiasts, we understand the comfort you may find in riding with your own gear. Due to things can get a bit challenging when it comes to traveling please consult our booking manager prior to departure.

Q. Will I have to carry my own luggage?
You will never have to worry about your bags on tour. You only need to carry a daypack with you whilst riding. We have a support vehicle and driver who will transfer your luggage to your next accommodation each day, and have it ready and waiting for your arrival.
On your holiday you will be staying in a range of comfortable, welcoming local accommodations, including traditional guest houses, small hotels, and a boutique hotel. For details please consult with your booking manager.
Traveling light is the key. Although the daytime and nighttime temperatures can vary in the mountains, so you must make sure that you have plenty of layers of breathable clothing to ensure that you are always warm enough and can remove a layer if you get too hot. 
You should also bring cycling shorts/trousers, gloves, padded undershorts, waterproof jacket, flip-flops, specific shoes for cycling.
Where the meals are included in Bikehiketours itineraries they are in a group setting. 
Your Bikehiketours guide will also be with you during these scheduled meals. 
During the meals that are not included in the itinerary, you are free to choose where you would like to dine. Your guide will advise you the best places to dine for these meals. You can choose to join with others and decide to dine together somewhere or, if you desire some independent time, you are also always welcome to do your own thing.
Medical insurance is mandatory on all of our holidays. We also recommend trip cancellation insurance. Contact your booking manager and we will help you choose the right plan for your holiday.
Many of our travelers join as singles. We charge single supplement fee to solo travelers for single room use. But don’t worry, we can pair you with another traveler of the same gender if you like.

A single supplement is an additional charge for a private room for guests traveling alone.
The cost of our holidays does not include international airfare. However, we are happy to assist you in booking flights to join with each tour. The prices vary depending on the season and the point of departure.
We can arrange early arrivals and extended visits. We will be happy to provide suggestions and ideas.
