Highlights of the tour

We honestly don’t know where to start as there are too many of them! This trip is about pure enjoyment on all levels. It includes exceptional gourmet experience, cultural education, extremely diverse, pristine nature, yoga, and some great trails! From flowy coastal rides to more technical ones in the Julian Alps, you will have it all! Also, you will enjoy the trails among vineyards reminiscent of the Italian Tuscany one day and ride up mountain passes the next. All you need to do is put your mind at ease and enjoy the ride under the professional guidance of Bike Hike Tours and Mini Adventure!

To help you with the latter, we will also include some yoga sessions in our itinerary. Yoga will help you stretch your muscles after all day in the saddle, but also help you keep your body and spirit aligned. Those familiar with yoga already know about all the benefits yoga can bring, and there are many! Yoga rookies, get ready to discover the practice with us and we promise you, it will not be the last one! Yoga classes will be private and adapted for all levels and styles.

Itinerary recap:

You will begin your journey in the historic city of Trieste, located on the shore of the Mediterranean sea. To boost our motivation and welcome you to your ladies holidays, we will first treat ourselves with a delicious Italian dinner. Salute! During the casual trails in the Mediterranean region, you will be able to soak in the beautiful coastal atmosphere.

We will then move towards the so-called “Hidden gem”, country of Slovenia. Simply, there is no other destination where you can see and do as much, in such a short period of time, as in Slovenia! The country is rapidly gaining recognition for its amazing landscape, rich culture, safe atmosphere, and quality food. Slovenian trails are perfect for enduro and all mountain biking, but will also bring joy to all XC riders out there. From beginners to experts, Slovenia will bring you constant satisfaction when riding in this truly incredible scenery!

In the meantime, we will also jump across the border and visit some pristine villages in the Croatian countryside. Those will definitely stay in your memory long after this holiday ends. When moving towards Alpine Slovenia, we will spend a few days riding around mountain passes and cooling down in lakes and rivers. Moreover, we will also make a tour that covers three borders and therefore connects Slovenia with Austria and Italy. When on top, all the efforts will be rewarded with big smiles and the view!

Charlotte Batty? Yes, she’s Emily Batty’s sister!
Charlotte has over 17 years of mountain bike experience. The first half of Charlotte’s career saw her competing at both National and International level, during which Charlotte claimed many titles.

Midway through her career, Charlotte took a step back from competing and refueled her passion for the sport through a newly landed instruction position with a local women’s club. Pedal forward a few years, and Charlotte is now a Certified Professional Mountain Bike Instructor (PMBIA Level 2 Air), as well as the successful business owner of Minii Adventures.

Teaching full time and recognized throughout North America for her instruction, Charlotte’s teaching methods incorporate a relaxed and dynamic approach. She is encouraging you to smile, curse and make all sorts of sound effects as you shred down the trail.

Day 1: Arrival to Venice airport

  • Pick up from Venice Airport, drive to Trieste
  • Check-in followed by a meet-and-greet with the guides, and review of the trip’s itinerary/official trip kick-off
  • Group will meet in the afternoon to build our bikes, and review some bike maintenance and some trails-side fix techniques while we are at it.
  • Group to convene for a short stroll around the city centre, followed by dinner at a local Italian restaurant

Upon arrival to the Venice airport, you will meet the Bike Hike Tours representative and drive to Trieste, an Italian coastal town on the border with Slovenia. Your accommodation here will be a comfortable boutique hotel. After checking in, our guides will run a short briefing, so you will know exactly what to expect in the days to follow. In the afternoon, you will meet with the group again to build the bikes and review some bike maintenance, plus some trails-side fix techniques so you will be 100% ready to start the MTB adventure the following day! Then, we will go for a short stroll around the city center, check some fine Italian shops and stop for an “aperitivo”. We will have dinner in a local Italian restaurant with traditional Mediterranean dishes. Our first day will be a relaxing one to help you adjust to the time zone.

Day 2: Riding in Italy

  • Skills Clinic #1: Review of our foundations: body positioning and balance (neutral, ready, crouched) – explore the planes of movement of bike-body-separation – learn effective braking – Learn effective shifting gearing, – Trail scanning & line selection

After breakfast, a short transfer will take us just outside of Trieste to Bagnoli-Dolina trails. In the morning we will first run a skills clinic. This will include a recap of all the basics, such as body positioning and balance, bike braking, gear shifting and trail scanning & line selection. Then, we will have a little break to enjoy our lunch and coffee. In the afternoon, we will go from theory to practice. We know how tiresome a day of traveling can be, so we planned the first day of riding on the flowy natural trails that will be perfect to get you ready for the days to come. Later in the evening, we will have a transfer towards Goriška Brda in Slovenia. This is one of the most famous wine regions in Slovenia, known for its exquisite wine and food! If interested, we can organize a wine tasting tour to try some local specialties while in the area. We will be staying in one of the many scattered boutique hotels in the region, overlooking the beautiful “Tuscany” countryside. Dinner and well-deserved rest will follow.

Day 3: An overnighter in Croatia

  • Breakfast – Drive from Goriska Brda to Groznjan – Skills Clinic #2: Build on our foundations: Direction control and cornering (the different techniques for different types of corners – downhill and uphill) – Pressure control (passive and active) – Front & rear wheel lifts (option to introduce bunny-hops depending on skill level) – Air time! Option to introduce drops and jumps (depending on skill level)

While the wine region alone could keep us occupied for a few days… there is a lot more to see on this trip. 🙂 We will set our compasses south again. About an hour and a half long transfer will get us to the small picturesque town in the center of Croatian Istria. The idyllic town of Grožnjan is famous for its network of awesome trails while it also hosts one of the best enduro races in the area. The first part of the day: Skills clinic 2. This will include direction control and cornering, pressure control, front & rear wheel lifts and optional introductions of drops and jumps. Woohoo! We will have a lunch break around noon. The afternoon intermediate trail ride will be surrounded by olive and pine trees and will keep you smiling throughout the whole ride! In addition, this day holds another surprise for you, my ladies! In the evening, we will enjoy the first yoga session of the tour in the perfect Mediterranean atmosphere! We will end the practice by thanking the Universe for that gorgeous day and recap all our memories during dinner time!

Day 4: Escape the city life

After a delicious breakfast, it will be time to head back to Slovenia and visit the world-famous Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle. A short transfer and an easy start of the day will be just perfect for regenerating after the first two days in the saddle. We will get to Ljubljana by the early afternoon, where we will first stop for late lunch. Then, we will have plenty of time to explore the local trails, located just a pedal stroke away from the city center. The trails are extremely well maintained by the volunteers and you will see mountain bikers of all ages and styles riding them. After riding, we will have some time to explore the city center, check the shops and visit the best cafeteria in the town! Also, there will be an open chat session for any questions you ladies may have about your riding technique. Today’s day will be rewarded with a tasty dinner in a cozy restaurant with a great selection of local wines and desserts.

Day 5: A day in the bike park

  • Drive from Lake Bled to Kranjska Gora

It is time to head for the mountains! We will leave Ljubljana after breakfast and drive towards the nearest ski resort. Krvavec ski resort is located just 20 min drive from the capital and it is the place where the longest flow trail in the country awaits us. We will not have to do any climbing today; instead, the cable car will take care of that! Yay! After a couple of hours in the bike park and delicious mountain lunch, we will have just enough energy to squeeze in a short trip to Lake Bled; a “must see” when visiting Slovenia. There, you will be able to taste the famous Bled cake, take a refreshing swim and an obligatory Instagram photo, before we proceed to Kranjska Gora.

Vertical gain: 6.000 (ft) (NOTE: Get Lifted! gondola shuttle: Flow trail is amazing and it takes you from the top gondola station to the bottom of the valley. And then you go back up again and again.)

Day 6: Across the border, again and again

This is the only time during our trip that we will be staying in the same accommodation for two nights in a row. This will allow you to get a better rest and only think about your biking. Our hotel is perfectly stationed at the base of Tromeja (“Tri-border”), a 1508m high mountain with its top based in three countries: Slovenia, Italy, and Austria.

After breakfast, we will, therefore, spend the full day on the bike. We will ride in all three countries and enjoy the typical natural trails on our way down. We will have our lunch packed in the morning and eat it on the trail side during riding. Prepare yourself for some spectacular lunch views!

In the late afternoon, we will head back to the hotel for an “afternoon activity” or another “evening yoga class”. Dinner will follow.

Day 7: The longest single trail and an evening to remember

We saved the very best for our final day in the saddle. After breakfast, we will begin our journey to the mountains. Vršič pass is the highest mountain pass in Slovenia and its top lays at the elevation of 1611m. Luckily for you ladies, we will drive instead of ride it! After a short stop at the top of the pass, we will continue our way towards Bovec. The road follows the trail of emerald Soča river, a white-water enthusiasts’ paradise. We will unload our bikes at the base of Kobariški Stol. One of the most beautiful mountain top views is a real reward while riding our way to the top. Again, we will have our lunch packed and eat it on the top of Kobariški Stol. The nicest single track in the area will take us back down to the valley. The WWI has heavily affected this area and our guides will gladly tell you more about it. Just a quick fact; the single track that we are going to ride was built by the soldiers in the WWI. After we get back to the valley, you can spend a couple of hours exploring the area or even do some white-water activities like rafting or canyoning. If you feel energetic enough, ask for it and we will help accommodate all of your wishes.  We will finish with a spectacular dinner to end the amazing trip in style.

Day 8: Return home or additional three days in Austria or Venice-Italy

After our last Slovenian breakfast, our transfer will dropp you off at the Venice Airport for a flight back home.

Your adventure guides are local and experienced professionals who have a real passion for outdoor activities and for the culture and landscape.
Your safety is their number one priority, closely followed by your enjoyment of the tour. They will always be on-hand to answer any questions or requests you may have throughout your trip. We choose our guides for their expertise in outdoor activities. They are experts in their fields.
We only run small group adventures to ensure that everyone has the best experience possible and not get lost in the crowd. There will generally be between seven and 14 people in each group. The minimum number of people we require to run our tours is four.
Our tour caters for a wide age range, typically between 30 and 60 years old, but age is simply a state of mind, as they say, and we welcome anyone over the age of 18! 
Tours are designed at your own pace and you will enjoy no matter what your age.

Each evening your guides will chat with you about the following day’s activities and give you an idea of the sorts of trails you can look forward to. If there’s anything you feel anxious about, your guides will be happy to discuss it with you.
We recommend following a general training in the weeks leading up to your trip.
Your guide will be very happy to give you some bike skills training during your trip to help improve your confidence and your enjoyment of your bike adventure. 

As fellow sports enthusiasts, we understand the comfort you may find in riding with your own gear. Due to things can get a bit challenging when it comes to traveling please consult our booking manager prior to departure.

Q. Will I have to carry my own luggage?
You will never have to worry about your bags on tour. You only need to carry a daypack with you whilst riding. We have a support vehicle and driver who will transfer your luggage to your next accommodation each day, and have it ready and waiting for your arrival.
On your holiday you will be staying in a range of comfortable, welcoming local accommodations, including traditional guest houses, small hotels, and a boutique hotel. For details please consult with your booking manager.
Traveling light is the key. Although the daytime and nighttime temperatures can vary in the mountains, so you must make sure that you have plenty of layers of breathable clothing to ensure that you are always warm enough and can remove a layer if you get too hot. 
You should also bring cycling shorts/trousers, gloves, padded undershorts, waterproof jacket, flip-flops, specific shoes for cycling.
Where the meals are included in Bikehiketours itineraries they are in a group setting. 
Your Bikehiketours guide will also be with you during these scheduled meals. 
During the meals that are not included in the itinerary, you are free to choose where you would like to dine. Your guide will advise you the best places to dine for these meals. You can choose to join with others and decide to dine together somewhere or, if you desire some independent time, you are also always welcome to do your own thing.
Medical insurance is mandatory on all of our holidays. We also recommend trip cancellation insurance. Contact your booking manager and we will help you choose the right plan for your holiday.
Many of our travelers join as singles. We charge single supplement fee to solo travelers for single room use. But don’t worry, we can pair you with another traveler of the same gender if you like.

A single supplement is an additional charge for a private room for guests traveling alone.
The cost of our holidays does not include international airfare. However, we are happy to assist you in booking flights to join with each tour. The prices vary depending on the season and the point of departure.
We can arrange early arrivals and extended visits. We will be happy to provide suggestions and ideas.
The more in advance you book, the greater availability of dates you’ll find.
